Jacki has had a passion for movement and health from a young age, starting with dance at age 8. Seeking physical therapy herself for various dance injuries over the years was what originally sparked her interest in pursuing this as a career path. She loves that physical therapists are able to spend quality time with patients unlike many other healthcare professions, and because of this can attend to the whole person and address the root cause of an issue in a non-invasive way.
Jacki earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance with a minor in Disability Studies from the University of Washington while taking prerequisite courses for graduate school. After a break from formal studies to work and teach English abroad, Jacki attended Pacific University for her physical therapy studies, eventually graduating as valedictorian of her class with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Since graduating from physical therapy school, Jacki has additionally earned distinction as a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist in physical therapy.
Between undergraduate and graduate school, Jacki also became a fully certified STOTT Pilates instructor, training in both mat and all Pilates equipment. She has been able to teach on and off since starting graduate school and enjoys the balance of working with people who are not necessarily prompted by injury or illness in addition to her role as a physical therapist.
Being a lifelong learner, Jacki routinely takes continuing education courses above and beyond state licensing requirements, always striving to better serve her clients. Among other things, Jacki has taken courses in advanced assessment and evaluation, manual therapy, dry needling, orthopedic specialization training, and pelvic health physical therapy.
